A reflection on Luke 21:12-19

In the fiercest persecution, no power on earth can destroy our immortal strands.
Jesus said to the crowd: “They will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.“
Luke 21:12-19
Shalom in Strife
Jesus never promised a life of ease but peace in the midst of strife. Though a hair may be singed, the strands of eternal life shall not be impinged.
Shalom aleichem! Walk in peace.
Not a hair on your head shall cease.
Traditional Chinese Translation
《不朽的髮綹》
願平安與你同在!行在平安中。
你頭上一根頭髮也不會損壞。

As the hairs on my head are numbered,
So should I number my God-given blessings.
That would be a lengthy recitation,
To recount the times of God’ caressings.
Whether in trials or tasks of each day,
God’s grace abounds along the way.
Give thanks to the Lord of all life,
One who sustains me in joy and strife.
Beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen!
