John 12:24-26 “in a snailshell”
Feast of Saint Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr
©️2021 Gloria M. Chang
Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.
John 12:24-26
Life dormant in a grain of wheat
Won’t waken til it’s broken seed.
Traditional Chinese Translation
《聖勞倫斯、執事和殉道者》
生命蟄伏在一粒麥子裡
直到麥種破碎才會醒來。

Dear GMC, I love your reflection and the related post, “A Toast to the Roast.” Hopefully, the Divine Comedians laugh with us, and not at us. Saint Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, pray for us and help us to remember that the Divine Laughter is serious faith.
The “divine laughter” erupts from the self-emptying kenosis of the Three, the fountainhead of the Cross and grill.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of merriment.
Ecclesiastes 7:4
Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices;
you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
John 16:20
Like the butterfly inside
Its chrysalis compartment,
Seeds have a hard shell.
Like my stubborn ego,
That becomes hardened,
Only God’s merciful love
Will make me wholly well.
May the Spirit release the butterfly!
