The Woman and the Dragon

God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. 

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems. Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne. The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God. 

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: 
“Now have salvation and power come,
and the Kingdom of our God
and the authority of his Anointed One.”

O Mary Assumed Into Heaven, Pray For Us

Celestial thunder, lightning, and earthquake
Rocked God’s temple with the covenant ark
As a sun-clad Woman, blinding the dark,
Wailed in labor as the heavens did shake.

The Lady, crowned with twelve stars, with the moon
Beneath her feet, faced a fierce, red dragon
Athirst to fill his bloodthirsty flagon
With her Son, whom he desired to impugn.

Enraged, he gaped his jaws as she gave birth,
But the Child-King ascended to heaven,
Enthroned, encircled by lampstands seven,
Sceptered to rule over heaven and earth.

Sheltered in the desert, the Woman hid,
Nourished by God with manna and the Word,
Shielded from the wiles of the fallen third
Prowling to sicken and make invalid.

War flared in heaven as Michael battled
The dragon and his demon oppressors,
Who persecute and kill Christ’s confessors,
Relishing the anguish of the strangled. 

Heaven’s chorus rose in exultation
As Satan and his fiends plunged in defeat,
Foaming with malice, envy and deceit,
Embittered by the song of salvation.

The Church proclaims through her testimony,
By the blood of the Lamb, the saints conquered,
Carrying Christ’s Cross to death and martyred,
Rising with her Groom in matrimony.

喔，身披日頭，頭戴十二星冠冕的婦人啊，
日食紅龍並在我們的戰爭中獲勝。
