“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

John 12:32 (ESV)

Christ was handed over,
to gather into one the scattered children of God.

  1. “Handed over” makes me think of the word “surrender” becuase Christ went willingly, did not resist arrest. In is dialogue with accusers he tried to speak truth to power. Herod washed his hands of him to protect his own name.

    1. Paradidómi (hand over, betray, deliver) occurs 120 times in the New Testament. The power to “hand over” and crucify God in the flesh is bestowed “from above” (John 19:11).

  2. Makes me think of my surrender to God’s loving actions in my daily life. God holding me in merciful love willing what is good for me. “Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.” Easy to pray but not so easy to live out!
